Ghost writing is the practice of writing a book, a story or an article for someone who will then publish it under their name. If you are just starting out as a freelance writer, you will find that there are a number of ghost writing jobs out there, but is it for you?

The first ting to ask yourself is whether you can work with someone else very closely. The ghost writing process is usually fairly collaborative. The person whose name will be on the book will likely give you an outline, and then they will check in on your progress. They may be very particular about how the book goes together, and you need to be willing to accommodate them. This is something that can make a huge difference to how you like the process.

You also need to think about how you feel about non-disclosure forms. Non-disclosure forms guarantee that you will not speak about the book that you created. This can sting for some people who want to show off their work, but this is one of the standard requirements of the ghost writing industry.

Before you jump in, decide if ghost writing is right for you!

Bringing your writing skills to bear within the realm of a niche market brings with it many unique challenges. Your ability to write definitively for an audience well versed on several of the aspects that will define any niche will mean that any piece you finish must be thoroughly researched. Additionally, good writing along may not be enough to ensure you are successful, your take on any subject must contain unique insight that your readers will value.

Putting forth extra effort to work within a niche market may be enough to satisfy the demands of your audience. Of course, the old axiom of “write what you know”‘ will never be more appropriate than when you are working to create a piece for a niche audience. Writing with authority for any niche or subculture for which you yourself claim membership is an advantage without peer.

The creation of any work meant for such a select and elite group of readers will need to be held to the highest of standards. Anything written to please the every-man may fall well short of what is needed to be accounted a success. Superior research and your own personal experiences can be the key to pleasing even the most demanding of audiences.

The feeling of having your writing published in a creative magazine is one of the most exhilarating thrills that any author can experience. It can seem impossible to do, but all that it really takes to get your work published is applying a few simple rules. These are the top 10 tips from top selling authors; advice and strategies that will allow you to take your writing to the next level, fast.
1)	Read.
The first step that most established authors agree that all writers can benefit from is simple; if you want to be a great writer, read the work of other writers. Reading as much by the authors that you like will help you to craft your own unique style.
2)	Regulate.
Set aside a period of time each day to dedicate to writing. Setting a schedule helps aspiring writers to develop the habit of discipline. This does not have to be a long period of time as long as it is a regular one. Keep to this schedule through thick and thin, and you’ll be writing like the experts in no time.
3)	Write.
This one seems obvious but it’s something that many aspiring writers fail to full understand. In order to become a better writer is it necessary that you write a lot. Everything that you write won’t be great; often some of your ideas will be terrible in fact. The point is that knowing the difference between good and bad writing requires dedication and persistence. All professional writers agree that anyone can become a great writer if they’re willing spend the amount of time that it takes to become one.
4)	Review.
Take time to examine what you write. Does it say what you wanted to say? Do you feel that your thoughts are being expressed in an interesting way? Make note of what you like and don’t like about your work as it stands. For an expert author, reviewing what you’ve written is just as important as writing it in the first place.
5)	Revise.
For great writers, the most important part of writing isn’t putting ideas on paper; it’s the process of making those ideas better through revision. Whether its trimming certain words, or making a point clearer; revision polishes your writing until it jumps right off of the page. Expect to spend as much time revising your work as you spend creating it.
6)	Refine.
After revising, great authors take a critical eye to the work they produce, This can mean making dialogue snappier, changing the overall tone or even getting rid of sentences that just don’t seem to flow correctly. Many of the greatest writers that you’ve ever read are the most brutal when it comes to refining their own work.

7)	Relax.
Working well under pressure is a good skill to have, but being able to work without pressure is an even better one. Writing as a career is a marathon, not a 100 yard dash. Train for endurance; not speed. With a deadline or without one the best writers give their best effort at all times.
Challenge Yourself.
The best writers get that way by pushing their talents every time they set out to write. Aim high; make every attempt to produce writing that shocks even you. Make a ferocious statement about just how good you are with every last word you write.
9)	Learn.
The reason that good writing is good is because good writers become experts on the subjects that they write about. Learn as much as you can about your topic, and the write. Repeat this process until your story feels truly authentic.
10) Persist.
When your work is rejected, it can make you want to stop writing altogether. While this is a natural effect of being turned away by a publisher; expert authors agree that tenacity is a requirement for aspiring writers. Be prepared to defend your work. Make adjustments, and keep writing.

Freelance writers are at the top of the list of stay at home jobs. It is something that a lot of people are interested in, but few people know how to break into that type of market. It is really something to get involved with a freelance opportunity that is ongoing. Lots of people can find some one time gigs, but it takes a lot to find something that is constant.

One of the best ways get freelance writing kicked off is through websites. It is always better to go and work for a site that is established.Check out this link here. A person that is willing to do some freelance writing may have some great ideas for their own websites, but they should be avoided. In the early stage it takes more time to build a website and drive your own traffic. It is better to get on a site that is established and conjure up a group of paying clients. From this point you have your name out there. This gives you more momentum to go solo later on.

You should also check magazines that want writers in the freelance profession. It can be lucrative, but the work has to be done.

Good villains are vital when writing a story. They serve as a counterpoint to the hero, (or in some cases, as the main character). But what exactly defines a “good villain”? And how do you go about creating one?

As for the definition, a good villain should be instantly recognizable and unique. The more relatable your villain is to the person reading; the more human and flawed you make them, then the more memorable they are. And being memorable is important, because people are more likely to share (and be inspired by) things they remember well.

Keeping this in mind, one of the best ways to go about creating such a villain is to (as clichéd as it may sound) write what you know. Using instances from your own life where someone was rude or a bully, or when something bad happened, even if those instances aren’t technically “villainous”, is usually the best starting point in creating your villain.

The final step is to take these instances and build upon them, starting with something small and leading to bigger, more villainous acts, thus giving them motivation and depth, rather than simply making them evil for the sake of evilness.

Even the most talented of writers can suffer from “writer’s block,” where they have absolutely no inspiration to write at all. Many writers have a problem with this when they follow the same routine and when they sit at the exact same desk every day while they are writing.

The fortunate thing is that writers can find inspiration in the most unusual places. Sitting at a fast food restaurant instead of at a desk provides a different atmosphere, and seeing and communicating with others can be a great cause for inspiration. Coffee shops are also great for inspiring writers, as a mix of people visit them throughout the day, and the music that is played there is typically very inspirational.

Sitting at a park or somewhere else outdoors is another great way for writers to find inspiration. The simple sights of trees, bushes, flowers and other plants can give a writer a fresh outlook, and wildlife such as squirrels and birds can be intriguing and inspirational to look at.

When looking for inspiration, writers do not have to go to the typical places. Since inspiration can be found in the strangest of places, simply getting a change of scenery can inspire a tired writer in a whole new way.

If you are a writer, there are certain programs that you must have on your computer. These programs will enhance your writing experience and maybe even get you discovered.

Word Processor

This is one of the oldest types of programs. The word processor is one of the tools that writers use for many projects.

Websites

Websites can actually be very helpful for a writer. When you are running a website, you can use that to practice your craft as a writer. It is very important to make sure that your grammar and spelling is correct. This will give you a lot more respect as a writer.

Blogs

Blogs are more personal than websites. However, they are very effective when it comes to writing. You can also submit your blogs to people that can critique it.

Final Draft

Final draft is great for screenplay writers. Screenwriters for some of the most famous movies have wrote using this program. This program helps you with the format.

Dramatica Pro

If you are a creative writer, this software will provide you the help that you need. This is good for writing full length books, novels and other forms of writing. This book will ask you a ton of questions about characters in order to help you map out your story.

Writers will get a lot of benefit from these types of software available. While you can write without the pieces of software listed above, they will make it a lot easier and more convenient. Keep looking, there’s more: Free Novel and Fiction Writing Software

Finding the perfect way to write used to be a challenge. Should you stick with pen and paper, or what kind of typewriter should I use? Now that we have arrived in the computer age, it has become easier to determine what kind of computer you need to write with. We will examine some of the criteria for picking the perfect writing based computer, and then give some great examples to help get you on your way.

The first and clearly most important thing when it comes to writing is what kind of keyboard you want or are accustomed to.The whole story can be found at http://techcrunch.com/2012/05/15/the-x1-carbon-shows-lenovo-can-think-different/ The Apple line of products uses chicklet style keys which are have shorter throws and less noisy. However, many traditional typists view a keyboard like this in a negative light. If you like typing on this keyboard, the Macbook Pro is the best computer for a writer.

From there you have the lines of products from ASUS, HP, Acer, and Dell. All of them will come with the features you need to be a successful writer. You simply have to be willing to go out and feel the computer yourself. That is the most important step when it comes to getting a writing computer.

There are many important segments to writing fiction, however a great lead character is at the top of the list. Start with the physical. Make up a list of physical attribute questions and then answer them. Included in the list should be height, weight, hear color, build, gender, and so on. If you draw a blank, find a picture of someone in a magazine that meets the requirements for your story.

Remember no one is perfect. Besides, perfect makes for a very boring character. Your lead character must have a character flaw. It’s important that you find a way, through the plot, that the character is able to overcome the flaw by the end of the story. Give the lead character a tag, such as pacing when they are worried or twirling their hair when nervous. It can also be a verbal tag, such as a phrase or word they use that is unique.

Give your character a realistic, but memorable name. One way to do this is to use either an unusual first or last name and then use a common name for the other one, such as Jason Starborn or Illusion Vaughan. The most important thing to remember, when creating a great lead character, is to make them appear like a normal but interesting person.

Anyone can write. Writers hear this statement often, and for the most part it is true. Anyone can sit down and write a story, but the story must be compelling and appeal to readers everywhere. Writing is a skill and the only way to acheive this skill is to write often. When the decision has been made, there are some important steps to follow for finishing your first novel.

The first step is to have an idea and know your audience. You must know if your novel will appeal to adults, young teens, or children. The idea must be fully researched before writing begins. If the book will be fiction, it still must have an element of truth. Your readers will be turned off if the story is to unbelievable. This is not to say that you can’t write the next bestselling science fiction or fantasy novel. These genres have out of the ordinary concepts, but there is still a realistic quality that readers can relate to. This usually occurs through characterization. The characters must be well developed and have enough conflict and human emotions so the reader cares what happens to them. Check out your local bookstore for magazines that give great tips for character development. These magazines are a great resource, as they often contain advice from successful writers.

Writing a novel takes dedication. You absolutely must set aside time to write everyday. There can be no excuses. Give yourself permission to follow your dream, and this may mean saying no from time to time. Say no to extra shifts at work, say no to attending your best friends party, and most importantly, give yourself a schedule for daily writing and stick to it. Revision is a novels best friend, so always reread, revise, and rewrite where necessary. Finishing that first novel may seem like a daunting task, but diligence is the road to success.
