Since the release of issue one, (bootleg copied on an office copy machine after hours, hand-collated, and staple-bound through donations from Main Street Rag…all 100 copies sold out within the first three months), THRIFT Poetic Arts Journal has developed a community of artists and writers who participate in journal submissions, readings, gallery openings, workshops, and community-building efforts.

Poets and artists associated with THRIFT Poetic Arts Journal have led summer youth camp poetry seminars, performed at diversity festivals, and have combined efforts to promote the arts as a method for social and individual healing within corporate, middle-class, and inner city communities.

THRIFT Poetic Arts Journal Submission Guidelines

THRIFT Poetic Arts Journal publishes all forms of art and poetry, including poetry that lends itself to the spoken word. We publish work from everywhere, though preference is given to artists from Charlotte, NC, and the Southeast.

Our goal is to bring about understanding through art and writing by providing a venue for unique voices. The Journal’s foundation is in sincerity, and we are only interested in work that conveys an honest and individual perspective. We especially love a new approach.

We work on one issue at a time, and read submissions in the Summer and Winter. Deadlines are January 15 th and June 15 th of each year.

Acceptances will be notified by email or via an SASE. Poems will not be returned unless requested.

All submissions should be mailed to:

THRIFT Press
Attn: Editor Margaret Allegrucci
P.O. Box 5424
Charlotte, North Carolina 28299

Email questions to thrifteditor@thriftpoeticarts.com Due to the volume of submissions, THRIFT Poetic Arts Journal can no longer accept email submissions.
